There’s a reason that spring isn’t just a season, but also a mindset. The spring months bring forth thoughts of growth and brighter days ahead. As flowers bud, birds and bees reemerge and the snow (hopefully) melts away, life is renewed.
In addition to plants and animals, spring also provides us with an opportunity to press the “refresh” button, especially when it comes to our health and well-being. In the health sector, spring and the month of March marks National Nutrition Month, a campaign which focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
Healthy behaviors and attitudes towards nutrition and physical activity are often most sustainable when they are started at a young age.We at Worldways have worked with children in various regions to adopt and maintain positive eating and exercise habits. In Delaware, we developed a campaign that reversed the rise in childhood obesity by 30% and won White House recognition. For our friends at Bronx Health Reach, we created the Super Starions, 3 super heroes who challenged kids with games, in-home and at-school activities that help them learn, try and maintain healthy eating choices.
We are firm believers in marrying public health with social marketing initiatives, especially when it comes to promoting positive goals such as adopting healthier food choices and engaging in regular exercise.
